St. Bonaventure to install new president

Representatives of more than 50 colleges and universities will participate in the inauguration ceremony Friday for Dennis R. DePerro, who will be installed as 21st president of St. Bonaventure University.

DePerro, a longtime higher education administrator, has been on the job at St. Bonaventure since June. 1. He succeeded Sister Margaret Carney, who retired in 2016. Andrew Roth served as interim president for about 10 months.

DePerro formerly was dean of the Purcell School of Professional Studies at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, where he also had been vice president for enrollment management for 18 years.

The Buffalo native has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Canisius College and a doctorate in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.

The inauguration will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the Reilly Center Arena. It is free and open to the public.
