Buffalo Public Schools will formally launch its latest community school with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday at North Park Middle Academy, 780 Parkside Avenue.
North Park has been designated as a "community school" that will provide additional services and programs to students, families and the public on weekends and after hours.
Programs will run from 9 a.m. to noon on alternating Saturdays this school year, while evening hours will be added starting next year. The school district now has 15 community schools.
In addition, North Park - a school in good standing that serves students in grades 5 through 8 - will expand next year to include pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes. Registration is now open.
