Bills TE Logan Thomas and wife mourning loss of baby girl

Logan Thomas and his wife, Brandie, are mourning the loss of a baby girl, the Bills tight end shared on Twitter Thursday.

The Thomases, who have four sons, announced Oct. 4 that they were expecting a daughter, who was due in April.

Thomas was excused from practice Wednesday for what the team said were personal reason. He returned to Buffalo and was at practice Thursday.

"Please pray for our family during this very trying time," Logan Thomas tweeted Thursday.

Bills coach Sean McDermott opened his news conference Friday by offering his "heartfelt" support to the Thomases for the loss of their daughter.

"It offers great perspective, again, for where we are and what we do and we know how important it is and it seems like the only thing at times," McDermott said. "But it's certainly not the only thing. So we're going to offer our support and our love and wrap our arms around the Thomas family at this time and for as long as they need it.

"You get perspective from a lot of situations and, in this case, inspiration. The way that he and his family have handled this just really speaks volumes about who they are and I am one-hundred-percent confident that they will use this to continue to grow closer as a family and I was just happy to see Logan's smiling face (Thursday).

"Not from a football standpoint at all, but mostly just for him to be around and for us to embrace him and for him to be around his teammates, also."

The coach added, "He seems to be handling it about as well as anyone could at this point."
