SANTANGELO, Robert J.
SANTANGELO - Robert J. "The heart of his family" Robert J. "Bob" Santangelo of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Born in Niagara Falls, NY on August 4, 1934, he was the son of the late Bartolomeo "Ben" and the late Philomena "Fannie" Santangelo. A lifelong resident, Bob attended local schools graduating from Niagara Falls High School in 1954. Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army 3rd Armored Division, Fort Knox, KY. Bob married his loving wife, the late Vincenette E. (nee DeRosa) Santangelo on November 24, 1956 in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Niagara Falls. He was the dear father of children Bart Santangelo and Lisa Santangelo, both of Niagara Falls, NY and the beloved grandfather of Nico Robert Santangelo of Niagara Falls, NY. As a newlywed, Bob worked for Taibi Brothers Concrete. During the 1960's and 1970's he was an award-winning Western New York car salesman for Frontier Ford and Lammerts Buick-Cadillac. He was the co-owner of the Gulf service station at 24th and Pine Avenue, as well as the owner of Joe's Grill at 19th and Walnut Avenue. In the 1980's Bob began working for the city of Niagara Falls Public Works Parks and Recreation Department, retiring in 2004. To his family, Bob was a constant hero. He was always there as the one looking out for everyone's well-being. He was the most constant source of support and love. He adored, and was adored by his children. He was a best friend to his cherished grandson. No words can convey the pride, love, and respect for this man. God richly blessed us. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his children and grandson, he is also survived by his twin brother, Richard (Maryann) Santangelo of Niagara Falls, NY as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones. Bob was predeceased by brothers, John (Josephine) Santangelo, Frank (Julia) Santangelo, Ben (Sandra) Santangelo, and sister, Antoinette Santangelo. The family will be present on Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at the Spallino-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 1300 Pine Avenue (Niagara Falls), where prayers will be offered on Saturday at 10:15 AM and followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM from Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish at St. Joseph Church (Niagara Falls).
