[BN] Blitz newsletter: Injuries to Bills' secondary less severe than feared

The Bills lost cornerback E.J. Gaines to a hamstring injury in Sunday's game and safety Jordan Poyer hurt his knee on the final play. But there seemed to be good news on both of their injuries Monday, as both players were listed as day-to-day.

The Bills also made a move to shore up their cornerback depth, claiming cornerback Tony McRae from the Ravens and releasing receiver Kaelin Clay, who was acquired in the trade for Kevon Seymour.

Mark Gaughan's film breakdown: The Bills showed good diversity in the running game, which should give the Raiders plenty to think about. They had success in five different personnel groupings and hit on both zone running plays and gap-scheme runs.

Film grades: Maybe you'd rather have Jameis Winston, but Tyrod Taylor played a good game Sunday, scoring a 4.0 out of 5 in Gaughan's grades. Offensive line and special teams scored highly as well.

Tank rumors fueled Bills' underdog mentality: How so? "I just think that it's probably just more of what's been said about these guys outside this building," coach Sean McDermott said. "What was said in preseason? We're tanking. All along, we said we're building a team, we're not tanking." (Where have I heard that before?)

Quite the comeback: The Bills' comeback against the Buccaneers – rallying from down by 7 with three minutes to go – was their largest comeback that late in a game in at least 20 years, per Pro Football Reference.

Three up, three down: When Tyrod Taylor and LeSean McCoy both make the up list, that's a good sign for the Bills.

Put it on the list: After taking in Bills-Bucs, one Tampa writer says attending a Bills home game should be the sports fan's bucket list.
