New lighting would be installed in Williamsville's parks -- if the village receives a $50,000 state grant.
The village became eligible for the grant this year, when it was named a Clean Energy Community by NYSERDA.
The Village Board Monday agreed its application would propose using the money for new LED light fixtures at South Long, Island and Garrison parks, as well as the exterior of Village Hall.
In addition, a solar panel array would be installed next year on the roof of the village's Department of Public Works garage. Village officials estimate the solar array would cut the department's utility costs by 68 percent.
The garage would need a new roof before solar panels can be installed, but it is already slated to receive one at a cost of about $50,000, officials said.
