HEIM - Robert A. "Bob"
October 22, 2017 at age 94. Of Elma, NY. Husband of the late Anita A. Heim (nee Panzica); father of Robert C. (Colleen), Lynne Johnson, Nancy (Steve) Copley, JoAnn (William) Ratka, Kenneth and Patricia (Joseph) Pawlak; grandfather of 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Bob served in the US Army with the 4th Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron during World War II. His regiment engaged in battles throughout Europe, including the Normandy Invasion and Battle of the Bulge. Bob was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he sustained in battle. Bob met his wife Anita in 1948 while on a train excursion to Cleveland to see the Yankees play the Indians. They were married on November 26, 1949. Bob was a member of the Elma Volunteer Fire Department for over 50 years. He served as Fire Chief for 16 years, a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and past Senior Vice Commander and adjutant of the Mark F. Rademacher VFW Post 7795. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the PAUL A. KLOC BLOSSOM CHAPELS, INC., 4680 Clinton St., West Seneca (668-5666). A private graveside burial will be held with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 2131 Woodward Rd., Elma, NY 14059.
