Royalton man admits beating baby, choking woman

Eric L. Fehr of Royalton, who inflicted a brain injury on his infant son by shaking him last year and choked a woman into unconsciousness last month, pleaded guilty in both cases Friday.

After prolonged negotiations with attorneys Friday, Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III said he will likely sentence Fehr to six years in prison Jan. 12 for reckless assault on a child and second-degree strangulation.

Fehr, 30, of Royalton Center Road, lived on Dysinger Road in Lockport when he shook his newborn son in June 2016. On Sept. 13, he attacked a woman in Royalton.

Assistant District Attorney Lisa M. Baehre said the plea deal included an agreement not to prosecute Fehr for possible sex crimes against the same woman, nor for phone calls from jail that violated a restraining order.
