Bucs QB Jameis Winston practices Wednesday, but doesn't throw

Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston, who sprained the AC joint in his throwing shoulder during last Sunday's game, took the field for practice Wednesday but didn't throw any passes.

Winston is still considered day-to-day, leaving his status for Sunday's game against the Bills in doubt. Former Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick would start for the Bucs if Winston can't go.

Winston appeared to act out all of his quarterback duties Wednesday, but just stopped short of throwing. Coach Dirk Koetter said earlier this week that pain preventing Winston from making the necessary would be the main factor in deciding if he'll play.

Koetter was asked Wednesday whether it can be assumed that since the Buccaneers have not signed an additional quarterback Winston will be available in some capacity on Sunday.

“I’ll let you guys draw your own conclusions on that,” he said

Buccaneers' third-string quarterback Ryan Griffin ran the scout team at practice but isn't eligible to return from injured reserve yet. The team didn't add another quarterback to the roster, though, which could be an indication on Winston's status.
