Bills WR Jordan Matthews returns to practice after breaking thumb

Bills wide receiver Jordan Matthews was cleared to practice Wednesday after suffering a broken thumb that required surgery in the Oct. 1 loss to the Falcons.

Matthews insisted Monday that he wants to play in this week's game against the Buccaneers. Catching passes at Wednesday's practice is a significant step in that direction, since he wasn't allowed to catch footballs with his right hand earlier in the week.

Coach Sean McDermott said Matthews would be limited in practice, along with cornerbacks E.J. Gaines and Leondard Johnson. Tight end Charles Clay and linebacker Ramon Humber remained out while left tackle Cordy Glenn was expected to be a full participant.

Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick was also spotted at Wednesday's practice. He is from the same area of Virginia as Bills' QB Tyrod Taylor.
