360 solar panels installed at Riverview Solar Technology Park

Montante Solar has finished work on one of the first community solar energy projects in Western New York.

The 99-kilowatt solar array at the Riverview Solar Technology Park in Tonawanda is made up of 360 solar panels mounted on the roof of one of the park's buildings, at 600 Riverwalk Parkway.

Community solar projects allow residents or businesses that can't install solar panels on their own roofs or prefer not to do it to still support solar energy by agreeing to purchase a portion of the energy produced by the array. The Tonawanda project, which was designed and built by Montante Solar, is nearly fully subscribed, according to the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.
