A Lockport man was taken into custody Monday morning following an overnight standoff on Bowmiller Road, state police said.
At about 8:41 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the address about a domestic dispute. By the time they arrived, Matthew C. Pierce, 30, had left. Troopers who responded had investigated Pierce for a prior incident. After they left the residence to file paperwork related to that, Pierce returned, state police said.
When troopers returned to the residence, they could not make contact with anyone in the house.
Assisted by the Niagara County Emergency Response Team, state police set up a perimeter around the house. Pierce exited the house at 6:15 a.m. and was charged with felony counts of criminal contempt, third-degree criminal mischief and aggravated family offense and misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment.
Pierce was arraigned in Town of Newfane Court and remanded to the Niagara County Jail on $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
