A Washington D.C. man who was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over Saturday on Route 219 in the Town of Carrollton was arrested after troopers found a loaded semi-automatic pistol and a small bag of marijuana in the vehicle.
Dante R. Hicks, 20, was in a car pulled over just after 1 a.m. Saturday. State police said the vehicle was stopped for failure to dim head lights for oncoming traffic.
Troopers smelled marijuana in the vehicle and conducted a search, turning up the bag of pot and the gun, state police said.
Hicks, who troopers said said didn't have a permit for the weapon, was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Hicks was arraigned in the Town of Allegany court and remanded to the Cattaraugus County jail on $500 cash bail/$1,000 bond.
