FALL FEAST – The Newstead Historical Society will hold its annual Harvest Dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday in L. L. Tillman Post 900, American Legion, 9 Eckerson Ave., Akron. FINAL LAP – The 53rd and last-ever Discover America Road Rally, the largest in Western New York, will be held Sunday on 110 miles of scenic roads lined with fall foliage in the Southtowns and Southern Tier. Registration opens at 9:30 a.m. at Patchin Fire Company, 8333 Boston State Road, Boston, and the first car starts at noon.

LUTHER’S DEMONS – Western New York Players will present a staged reading of “Conversations With the Devil,” a new play about Martin Luther by local playwright John Reich at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 107 Scott St. City of Tonawanda.
A Dessert Theatre production, it commemorates the 500th anniversary of the Reformation and begins with desserts at 7. Tickets are $7. For reservations, call 692-6200.

Chet Fery, "The Bread Man"

LUNCH DATES – Deadline is Thursday for reservations for this season’s first Let’s Do Lunch program Oct. 19 in Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 S. Buffalo St., Orchard Park.
The program following lunch at 11:30 a.m. will feature Chet Fery, “The Bread Man,” who will share his “Bread Time Stories.” Cost is $10. All are welcome. To reserve a seat, call the church at 662-9348.

CLEAN PLATES – Lasse Wennman received Sweden’s Environmental Hero of the Year Award last December for reducing food waste by obtaining perishable items from restaurants and recycling them to feed the hungry, distributing more than 150 tons of food to more than 12,000 people just north of Stockholm.
Wennman will discuss “An Environmentally Sound Model for Feeding Sweden’s Refugees and Poor” during a free presentation at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Room 127 of Dunleavy Hall at Niagara University.

JUST FOR LAUGHS  Services for mental health will benefit as the Friendship Foundation hosts a comedy night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Rob’s Comedy Playhouse in Dandelion’s Restaurant, 1340 N. Forest Road, Amherst.
Rob Lederman, funny man on 97 Rock for 28 years, and Michael Harrison, winner of the Funniest Comic in Canada contest, will be featured.
Tickets are $50, $90 per couple. Proceeds will go to the Restoration Society Inc. The Friendship Foundation assists the Restoration Society providing education about mental health and psychiatric conditions and advocates for the rights of individuals with psychiatric conditions.
