UB librarian to mentor others at Al Gore's climate workshop

Fred Stoss. (University at Buffalo)

University at Buffalo Librarian Fred Stoss has educated people about climate change for decades.

Next week, he'll join former Vice President Al Gore's non-profit Climate Reality Project as a mentor at its International Training Workshop in Pittsburgh.

Stoss helped design and edit the Global Climate Change Digest starting in 1987 as the director of library and information services at the Rochester-based Center for Environmental Information.

As a mentor at next week's workshop, he'll help others become story tellers about the scientific proof that bolsters Gore's presentations.

"The workshop's goal is making trainees proficient in describing what global climate change is from scientific and technical perspectives," Stoss said. "We are just trying to show people how we can change our own patters of living so that the world is no longer constrained by greenhouse gases."
