David Clarke, the former sheriff from Wisconsin who has become controversial over his remarks about blacks, will attend the Erie County Republican Party's annual Stars and Stripes Gala next month.
"Please join us as we welcome 'The People's Sheriff' David Clarke as our special guest," the local GOP says on its Facebook page.
Clarke frequently appears as a guest on Fox News and was a speaker at the 2016 Republican National Convention.
He has been considered a controversial figure because of his remarks about black people, his stance against habeas corpus, as well as his record as supervisor of the Milwaukee County House of Correction.
The Stars and Stripes event takes place from 6 p.m. Nov. 3 at Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino in Niagara Falls.
