Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz has been traveling a lot this year, stumping for the need to fight the opioid crisis as a member of the National Opioid Task Force. He's currently in Arlington, Va., at the Governing Health & Human Services Summit, where he's as panelist.
At this week's summit, he's talking about how the county confronts the epidemic and the work of the national task force, said spokesman Peter Anderson. The presentation is titled “The State of Emergency: The National Opioid Crisis." Some of the other presentations at the summit include discussions on strategies for eradicating homelessness, social determinants of health and the future of Medicaid.
Poloncarz returns after the summit wraps up today.
