The call out to musicians of all ages who want to record and submit their rendition of Brahms' Lullaby to welcome babies born at the new Oishei Children's Hospital has been extended.
Women & Children's Hospital has extended the hospital lullaby contest to Oct. 15 from its Sept. 15 deadline to gain more entries. Creativity, imagination and all instruments are encouraged but the tune must fit with the emotion of welcoming a new baby into the world, according to the hospital's contest website.
The hospital has had a longstanding tradition of playing the well-known lullaby to celebrate the birth of every baby born at the hospital.
A panel of judges will determine the top three finalists to perform in front of a live audience.
A final determination is expected by early November ahead of the new hospital's Nov. 10 opening on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus.
The winner will receive a $1,500 cash prize and the winning tune's audio recording will play in the hospital every time a baby is born.
