The latest round of the Independent Health and Buffalo Bills Health & Wellness Challenge will start Monday, run through Nov. 19, and include a grand prize entertainment trip for two to Nashville.
The seventh round of the challenge – which will start two weeks after Gallup-Sharecare released a national survey ranking the Buffalo-Niagara region 184 out of 189 regions in the U.S. when it comes to the percentage of residents who exercise regularly – was designed three years ago to get people moving and making sound nutritional choices.
Here’s how it works:
Those interested in joining the challenge for the first time can sign up at buffalobills.com/thechallenge. Returning participants can return there.
Participants must be at least 18 and live in New York State. They will earn points by achieving three main daily goals:
– 20 minutes of physical activity
– Eat five servings of fruits and vegetables
– Drink eight glasses of water
In addition, those who track their steps online or with a compatible fitness tracker will earn points to be entered in the weekly Steps Challenge prize drawing. Every 5,000 steps is an entry to win two tickets to the Dec. 10 Bills-Colts game at New Era Field.
All registered participants will be able to attend Monday Night Fitness, a free boot camp class on the field at New Era Field every week during the challenge.
They also will earn points and be eligible to win a variety of weekly prizes. The grand prize to Nashville includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations for three nights and a VIP experience at Black River Entertainment. Other prizes will include signed Bills memorabilia, Bose wireless headphones, fitness trackers, gift cards and autographed Black River Entertainment merchandise.
More than 19,000 have participated in the free challenge to date. You do not need to be an Independent Health insurance member to participate.
