Proposed Allegany County pipeline would cross two trout streams

The National Fuel Gas Distribution Corp. is proposing to install roughly 1.5 miles of natural gas pipeline along Stone Dam Road in Willing, Allegany County.

Documents submitted to the Department of Environmental Conservation call for a portion of the pipeline to cross within a 100-foot-wide regulated area near a state freshwater wetland and a trout fishery, the agency reported.

The pipeline would cross Marsh Creek and Redwater Creek, which are protected trout streams. The site is a few miles north of the Pennsylvania border.

The DEC announced Thursday it tentatively determined to approve the project, however, it seeks public comments before making a final decision.
