Members of the hourly employees union picketed the Tonawanda Town Board meeting Monday night because the union's members have been working without a contract since 2011.
Nearly half of the union members do not pay for health insurance, and the town wants the next contract to include a change.
Endorsed Republican Town Board candidates Paul D. Christian and Damon Piatek have also been endorsed by the union.
"They have not been treated fairly," said Christian. "The first thing Damon and I would do when we get in there is ask for the salaries of Town Board members to be held up until there is a contact."
Union President Paul Catalano said the town and union are sceduled to return to the bargaining table on Oct. 18.
