Donation drive continues for Hurricane Maria victims

More than $15,000 has been collected in the Buffalo region for the Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria Relief Fund.

The on-going donation drive runs until Friday, Oct. 6, at least.

Special donation boxes are available at Buffalo City Hall, 35 Erie County buildings, Erie Community College, the Belle Center at 104 Maryland St. and Lackawanna's St. Anthony's Church, 306 Ingham Ave. and at some Buffalo Public Schools. All of the donations will be flown to Puerto Rico as arranged by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo.

Monetary donations are accepted through M&T Bank's Puerto Rico Hurricane Maria Relief Fund.

Mayor Byron W. Brown and Assembly Members Crystal Peoples-Stokes and Sean Ryan as well as members of the Hispanic Council of WNY announced the update Tuesday at the Belle Center.
