This isn’t about flag, it’s about our history
After the 2016 election, I often heard that political incorrectness was back. White men did not have to censor their speech. But in reality, as a nation, we had progressed. That’s why I think we are having the wrong conversation. This is not about the flag. It’s about our history. This is about honoring those who bled and died for our civil rights. We need to show respect for the men whose shoulders Colin Kaepernick stood upon. It is about honoring those who made our paths easier.
As much as President Trump’s supporters want to walk back political correctness, they can’t. Our generation did a really good job parenting nicer, better versions of ourselves.
So, whatever appeal Trump had was erased in this regard and not by any action of the left. This is about people doing what they’re supposed to do. In the name of progress, our generation raised kinder, gentler children.
In fact, Trump supporters learned a lesson from the left’s playbook. Nothing unites people better than the divider-in-chief. His comments mobilized players, owners and the free market against him.
It looks like we’re making the world a better place after all.
