City of Tonawanda water pressure problem should be limited

Repairs to the Veterans Park water storage tank in the City of Tonawanda will take the tank out of service for about four weeks, but any impact on water pressure should be "just a blip," Erie County Water Authority Executive Director Earl L. Jann Jr. said.

About a year and a half ago similar repairs of the Veterans Park water storage tank caused low-water pressure in parts of the city, especially the Fourth Ward. Jann said an inspection found a defect in the new lining and the manufacturer - not Erie County - will pay for new repairs.

But Jann promises this time the water pressure dips won't be as widespread.

He said pump stations will run continuously at Veterans Park to maintain water pressure, while in the past the authority waited until the pressure dropped to turn them on.
