A Wilson couple has been arrested and charged in connection with burglaries that occurred Friday in the Ransomville area, according to authorities.
Christopher R. Empson, 40, and his wife, Barbara Jean Empson, 41, were allegedly burglarizing a home on Ransomville Road when the homeowner caught them, according to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
The homeowner came home Friday to find Barbara Empson sitting in a vehicle parked in the driveway, the Sheriff's Office said. When she spotted the homeowner, she honked the horn and Christopher Empson came out the front door, the Sheriff's Office said. The couple fled, authorities said.
Another homeowner on Youngstown-Wilson Road arrived home to find the residence burglarized, and deputies identified Christopher Empson as a suspect, the Sheriff's Office said.
The couple was caught during a traffic stop about 2:30 p.m. in Cambria, authorities said. Items allegedly stolen from both homes were recovered from their vehicle, the Sheriff's Office said.
They were each charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, fifth-degree possession of stolen property and possession of burglar's tools, authorities said.
Christopher Empson was held at the Niagara County Jail without bail. Bail for Barbara Empson was set at $50,000 cash, $100,000 property bond. Both were scheduled to return Tuesday to Porter Town Court.
