Ribbon-cutting celebrates opening of guest house for Mercy Hospital

Elected officials joined hospital administrators and community leaders Monday for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the opening of Grace Guest House at 2315 Seneca St., which will provide a place to stay for out-of-town families of patients undergoing treatment at Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo.

Grace Guest House, with 11 bedrooms and six full bathrooms, occupies the former St. John the Evangelist Rectory, across Cazenovia Park from the hospital. West Herr Auto Group has donated a minivan to shuttle families back and forth.

President and founding director Cynthia Battista was inspired to create a guest house for her neighborhood hospital after hearing of a colleague’s experience with a guest house in another city.

Grace Guest House is expected to serve about 1,000 families annually.
