Two members of Sacred Heart's undefeated golf team qualified Sunday for the state Catholic girls golf tournament in the spring.
Junior Emily Case medaled with a round of 84 during the Monsignor Martin Girls Golf All-Catholic Championship at Elma Meadows.
"She's got a great swing," said coach Ken McKinnon, whose teams have won 54 straight matches, including eight this year.
Also qualifying for states were senior Isabela Vasquez of Nardin, 95; sophomore Hayley Mahoney of Nardin, 98; junior Giavanna Bolognese of Sacred Heart, 106; senior Shelby Kmidowski of Buffalo Seminary, 106; and senior Emma Lalley of Nardin, 110.
St. Mary's of Lancaster took third at the prestiguous Garden State Volleyball Invitational this past weekend in New Jersey.
The Lancers' run in the tournament ended at the hands of Immaculate Heart Academy of New Jersey in the semifinals, 25-10, 25-21. St. Mary's suffered its pool play loss Saturday in the event to Immaculate Heart Academy.
Hannah Mulhern had 38 kills on Sunday, as the Lancers reached the semifinals by defeating Indian Hills (N.J.) and Walter Panas (25-18, 25-22), the latter in the quarterfinals. Other standouts for the Lancers included Caroline Zanghi (13 blocks) and Jasmine Brundage (39 digs).
