Retaining wall collapses at Olcott Yacht Club

The flooding along the shores of Lake Ontario this spring continues to create problems.

A steel retaining wall at the Olcott Yacht Club on Van Buren St. has collapsed, causing "widespread destabilization" of the land adjacent to the main building, the Niagara County Public Information Office said Saturday.

The collapse is likely the result of springtime flooding due to elevated lake levels, officials said.
