Just for Kicks: Hauschka's huge day vs. Broncos puts him ahead of Carpenter in 2016

Stephen Hauschka put on a show in Week Three against the Broncos. His big day served as a reminder of how important the kicking game still is in today's NFL. The Buffalo Bills kicker won AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Here's how Hauschka in 2017 stacks up against Carpenter a season ago through three games.

Field goals (through three games)

2017 Hauschka: 5/6

2016 Carpenter: 3/4

Last year in the third game of the season, Carpenter made a 19-yarder and a 45-yarder in the Bills victory over the Cardinals in Orchard Park.

On Sunday against the Broncos, Hauschka had a historic afternoon. He became the first Bills kicker to make more than one 50-yard field goal in the same game, as he connected on a 53-yarder and 55-yarder. He also made a 49-yarder and a 27-yarder.

Extra points (through three games)

2017 Hauschka: 5/5

2016 Carpenter: 4/5

Carpenter missed an extra point in Buffalo's thrashing of Arizona last year, so it essentially got overlooked. Hauschka hit on both of his extra-point attempts against Denver in Week Three.
