RACK ‘EM UP – A trio of outstanding local pool players will be remembered Saturday in a memorial 8-ball pool tournament sponsored by Norm and Diane Skulski in Classic Cue Billiards, 6061 Transit Road, Depew.
Kevin “K.C.” Cogan, who died in 2015, and “Fast Eddie” Rosas and “Lefty” Bob Matyjaszek, who died in 2016, took part in many charity pool tournaments over the years.
Entry fees are $10 for seniors over 60 and juniors under 17, $20 for league players and $30 for all others. There’s also a $10 green fee. No pros are allowed. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Variety Kids Telethon.
Doors open at 11 a.m., there’s free practice from 12:30 to 1 p.m. and play begins at 1:30. Food and drink specials will be offered all day. For more info, call Carl at 684-4644 or Diane at 715-7037.

BEATIFIED – The annual blessing of animals in conjunction with the Feast of St. Francis will be offered Sunday by St. Simon’s Episcopal Church, 200 Cazenovia St., at its 10 a.m. service and again at 2 p.m. at the Cazenovia Park Casino. All animals should be leashed or otherwise contained.
Calvary Episcopal Church, 20 Milton St. at South Cayuga Road, Williamsville, will bless “anything that purrs, barks, grunts or otherwise communicates” at 4 p.m. in the Kryder Courtyard. Light refreshments for all species will be offered. A collection of pet food items will be taken for the Pet Food Cupboard at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Alden.
