Mark Gaughan's Big Play Breakdown: Atlanta's Tevin Coleman in the red zone

BIG-PLAY BREAKDOWN: Tevin Coleman vs. Cover 3 in red zone

Atlanta gives defenses fits with both its skill-position talent and its scheme. Here was a Cover 3 zone "beater" that speedy running back Tevin Coleman ran for a 26-yard touchdown in Atlanta's playoff win over Seattle last January.

The wide receiver on the left cleared cornerback DeShawn Snead (35) out. All-Pro receiver Julio Jones (11) ran a shallow crossing route to draw attention. If Snead passed Coleman off to the safety in the back, the receiver may have been open on a slant. It was a perfect call against the coverage, and Coleman was wide open for a TD catch.
