It's been nice boating weather, but the Hamburg town boat launch is closed, and some are asking for a refund, town officials said.
A pylon and one of the docks floated away last month during a storm.
Repairing the old dock will cost about $10,000, plus $10,000 for the pylon, while a new dock would cost about $30,000 without the pylon, Highway Superintendent Tom Best Sr. said.
"I think the bigger decision is what do we do for next year," Councilman Tom Best Jr. said Monday during a work session.
The town has brought in $18,000 in launch fees. Expenses for the boat launch were budgeted at $60,000 this year.
The Town Board decided the town won't give refunds – but may give rebates to boaters who return next year.
