REVEREND MARK CHRISTOPHER,

REVEREND MARK CHRISTOPHER-
86, of Ft. Pierce, Fla., passed away at home on September 4, 2017, peacefully surrounded by his caregivers and loving family. He was born September 21, 1930 in Buffalo, NY to the late Walter and Antonina (Gajewski) Kurkowski. Predeceased by 7 brothers and 3 sisters and is survived by several nieces, nephews and godchildren. Fr, Chris graduated from St. Francis High School, Athol Springs, NY in 1948, went on to study at St. Bonaventure University and various seminaries until his ordination at St. Michael's Cathedral, Springfield, MA on June 15, 1957. He served in the Franciscan Order, later moved to Florida and served both the Diocese of Orlando and Palm Beach, until he retired from St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Ft. Pierce in 1999. Fr. Mark Christopher continued to serve two parishes in Lakeland and All Souls Parish in Sanford, Fla. until he retired a second and final time in 2014. He recently celebrated 60 years of the Priesthood. Fr. Chris spent a better part of his life behind a High School desk teaching or tutoring dozens of students in Math, English and Latin. He ran years of continuing education of adults through Scripture classes, Sacramental preparation and Catholic Rite of Initiation. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 28, at 7PM in the St. Francis High School Chapel, 4129 Lake Shore Rd., Athol Springs, NY. Memorials in Fr. Chris honor may be sent To St. Francis High School.
