CHAFFEE, Virginia F. "Ginny" (Philips)

CHAFFEE - Virginia F. "Ginny" (nee Philips)
Longtime resident of Clarence, NY, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2017 after residing at the Brothers of Mercy Nursing Home for four years. She received loving care on 2 East and had a wonderful roommate Ellie. Virginia was born in Winterthur, Delaware on December 28, 1921. Her family moved to Tully, NY when she was young and graduated from Tully High School. She came to Buffalo to enroll in the Nurses Training Program and became a Registered Nurse (RN) working in various hospitals in Buffalo area. In later years she provided private duty nursing for terminally ill patients. Virginia was very proud to be a member of the medical profession and being able to provide "TLC" to her patients. Virginia met Herbert "Herb" Chaffee near the end of WWII. Herbert enlisted in the Navy and was a Navy Seaman First Class. He was discharged from the Navy on November 1, 1945 and they were married in New York City on July 18, 1945. Herbert was devoted to Virginia, who was the love of his life. They wintered in Florida for many years and enjoyed taking cruises with their friends. Virginia is survived by two daughters Cheryl Hart (Dennis) and Cathy Pudlewski (late Jerry); one granddaughter Sara Jane Pudlewski and one great-granddaughter Mikaylah Ashley Graves; a niece Glenda Mattoon and the "son" she never had Danny Windnagle. Virginia will be remembered by family members for her "sense of style and fashion," as she was always dressed to the 9's, as was her husband (which she made sure of.) She was lovingly referred to as the "Diva" of the family. A private burial for the family was held. Share your condolences online at www.ShepardBrosFuneralHome.com
