Create A Healthier Niagara Falls Collaborative introduced a new leadership model this week powered by four city residents.
Sarah Obot, Brian Archie, Keyona Dunn and Evelyn Harris, all community advocates, will lead the grassroots, resident-led effort to improve the health and well-being of all residents in the city.
“Change needs to start with an investment from the community itself,” the collaborative leaders wrote in a joint statement. “As committed residents of Niagara Falls, we hope to lead by example and encourage others along the way to step forward and help us make Niagara Falls a healthier place to live, work and play for all.”
To kick-off the initiative, the collaborative will host a free Walk the Falls “friend-raising” event Saturday.
The inaugural bike/run/walk will include a free meal, healthy activity, and family-friendly entertainment.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. at the Niagara Hub, 630 Main St. in the Falls, and will include a walk to Whirlpool State Park starting at 9:45 a.m.
