Lowdown: Richner is a long-time campaigner in his family run racing team. Richner got involved in racing helping the now-retired "Wild" Bill Stuyvenberg before launching his own driving career in the Sportsman class at Ransomville and Genesee Speedway in 1986 in a car he purchased from Stuyvenberg. After three years in the Sportsman, Richner moved on to the 358 Modified-type race car, where he's won at least one feature race most every season at Ransomville except 2017. He added the Big-Block Modified to his racing menu three years ago. Richner suffered a major accident June 9 at Ransomville and is still sore with some hip pain from the incident. Richner recognizes his parents, Jim and Shirley Richner, as well as crew member brothers Randy and Ronny Richner and other crew members, Dylan Richardson, Joe Meyers and Ricky's son Kyle Richner, as being key to his career. Sponsors are: Jetport Lounge, Frontier Auto Wrecking, Chris's Appliance Repair, Lazy Lakes Resort.
Accomplishments: Despite being new to the Sportsman class, Richner was crowned the Sportsman season point champion at both Genesee in 1986 and Ransomville a year later. Finished a caree- best third in 358 Modified points at Ransomville a few seasons ago. He has earned several 358 Modified and Big-Block Modified feature wins during his career. Richner has also claimed a few track specialty awards over the years.
