Buffalo homeowners have a new source of funds for home repairs.
West Side Neighborhood Housing Services Inc. has received a $450,000 grant from the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corp. to invest in eligible neighborhoods throughout the city.
The 2017 City-Wide Home Repair Program is now open for applications for single-family and two-family owner-occupied dwellings. Qualifying applicants must have incomes below 80 percent of the area median income, must have homeowners insurance, and must be current on their taxes, water and user fees. The home must also be located in a low- or moderate-income neighborhood, based on U.S. Census data.
Eligible work includes lead-based paint remediation, health and safety repairs, energy conservation and code violation repairs.
Applications must be received by Oct. 20. For more information and to apply, call 877-3910 on Tuesdays through Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
