Troy Brady scored his sixth goal of the season 6:36 into overtime to give Canisius a 2-1 victory over Rutgers Tuesday night in Piscataway, N.J. It was the sixth win in seven games for the Golden Griffins.
Hunter Walsh put the Griffs in front in the 33rd minute with an assist by Melvin Blair. Blair passed ahead to send Walsh in one-on-one against the Rutgers goalkeeper. That stood until Sa Ru tied it on a penalty kick for the Scarlet Knights in the 61st minute. On his winning goal, Brady gained control around midfield got past a defender with one touch and scored from the right side.
Each side had 15 shots. The Griffs put eight on goal to five for Rutgers. Corner kicks were even at three each. Canisius goalkeeper Marco Trivellato had four saves.
Canisius will face Binghamton on Saturday night at the Demske Complex in its next game.
