Buffalo Public Schools offer parent workshop to support boys of color

A six-week workshop designed to provide Buffalo parents and caregivers strategies to support boys and young men of color begins Monday.

The workshop is part of the My Brother's Keeper Parent Academy series, sponsored by Buffalo Public Schools, which runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday at East High School, 820 Northampton St.

Participants will learn about academic, social-emotional and enrichment strategies designed to improve outcomes for males of color.

Former President Barack Obama launched My Brother's Keeper in 2014, and this year the state Education Department awarded program funding to Buffalo Public Schools to devote to parent and community engagement.
