Shawn K. Pittler, who was charged with burglarizing five Lockport-area convenience stores in a January crime spree, accepted a plea bargain Friday that limits his prison time to seven years.
If Pittler, 29, hadn't taken the offer to admit to two burglaries, he could have been indicted next week on all five, Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said.
Pittler, who listed various City of Lockport addresses, admitted to smash-and-grab cigarette thefts Jan. 25 at Kenyon's on Lincoln Avenue in Lockport and Jan. 30 at the Dollar General store in Newfane. Caldwell said he also was charged with burglaries at Olear's, Crosby's and Transit Car Wash in Lockport, and owes $3,714 in restitution.
County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III scheduled sentencing for Dec. 1.
