Police searched Tuesday night for a person who fled on foot from Hamburg officers after being pulled over on Lake Shore Road at the Lackawanna city line.

The driver was stopped at about 8:10 p.m. by Town of Hamburg police officers. The driver got out of the vehicle and ran into a wooded area along the railroad tracks on the former Bethlehem Steel property, on the west side of Lake Shore, Hamburg police said in a statement late Tuesday.

Hamburg police were being assisted by other law enforcement units from Lackawanna and the Village of Blasdell, as well as NFTA K-9, Erie County Sheriff's Office's Air 1 helicopter and state police.
