Sept. 13 WNY Driver of The Week: Kyle Murray

Age: 15

Hometown: Delevan

Division: Crate Late Models, Genesee Speedway

Lowdown: While Murray ran several tracks during his rookie campaign in the Crate Late Models this season he mostly concentrated on the weekly competition at Genesee Speedway in Batavia where he finished 10th in points. He is the grandson of the late founder of the Crate Late Model class, Bill Law. Murray began Go-Kart competition at age 4 at Allegany Memorial Speedway in Wellsville. Murray raced Go-Karts until age 15. He is a junior at Pioneer High School. Murray saved enough money to purchase his own Crate Late Model this past January. He is grateful to his pit crew consisting of his father, Todd Murray, Andy Murray (cousin), Austin Giboo, Dan Laird and Jeff Zawadzki. Sponsorship is provided by R.E. Kelly, Previty's Auto Wrecking and Holland Southtown Tire.

Accomplishments: Murray compiled over 500 Go-Kart wins. He won Go-Kart titles at Allegany Memorial in Purple Plate class in 2008 and Blue Plate in 2010. Murray has not won a feature race yet in the Crate Late Models in 2017 but did collect three heat wins, two top-threes, eight top-fives and 27 top-10s combined at the various tracks he ran at this season.

Favorite Music: Country music, especially Florida Georgia Line.
