A Town of Boston motorist was cited for drunk driving and drug possession Sunday after the vehicle he was driving crashed into a garage.
Erie County Sheriff's deputies responded to the crash on Boston State Road in the Town of Boston around 7:30 P.M. Deputies said the vehicle was driven off the roadway, after which it struck a utility pole, then careened into a garage that was severely damaged in the accident, along with another vehicle located near it.
Deputies said they observed signs of intoxication in the motorist, Kevin Thomas, 63 , who subsequently failed standard field sobriety tests. Thomas was arrested for DWI.
During a search of Thomas’ vehicle, deputies found a Hydrocodone and a Diazepam pill in a plastic bag. Misdemeanor counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance were added to the charge against Thomas, as well as criminal mischief and reckless driving. Thomas also was cited for drinking alcohol in a vehicle on a highway, speeding, failure to keep right, and failing to use the designated lane.
Thomas was released later with tickets.
