'The Bills are alive' in new 'Sound of Music' sendup

Last winter, Rochester native and die-hard Buffalo Bills fan Jennie Fagen achieved minor internet stardom with her musical take on the team's seemingly interminable playoff drought: "Bills are 16 Going on 17." As in it has been that many years since the last time fans' hearts were broken in the playoffs, as opposed to getting them broken in the regular season. (See "Throwback, Home Run" or "Agony, Never ending")

Though the drought continues, Fagen is back with another tongue-in-cheek interpretation of a different song from the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic "The Sound of Music."

In Fagen's version, which more skeptical viewers may interpret as a fantasy, what's alive is not the hills, but the Bills. Her source of inspiration is not the picturesque Austrian countryside, but the less classically beautiful surroundings of New Era Field in Orchard Park:

Fagen, who shows off some impressive vocal chops as well a rotating collection of Bills gear, is a nutrition coach based in New York City. Her first foray into fusing the joy of musical theater and the frustration of Buffalo Bills fandom received coverage from her local NBC affiliate and the Democrat and Chronicle, along with plenty of social media attention.

The same seems likely for her latest sendup.
