The Orchard Park Police Department had a busy weekend, not entirely because of the Buffalo Bills home opener. They reported the following incidents and arrests:
Early Saturday morning there was a two-car injury crash on Route 219 near the Taylor Road overpass. One driver, Jared Wansart, 23, of Buffalo, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after having a reported blood alcohol level of 0.16, following too closely and speed not reasonable and prudent.
Shortly after midnight Sunday morning, a traffic stop on Route 219 led to another drunk driving arrest. Timothy Dove, 36, of Cheektowaga had a BAC of 0.13 and was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain lane and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
At 11:00 a.m. Kimberly Baxter, 29, of Olean was found in a vehicle that had left the roadway on Route 219. Officers recovered hypodermic needles from the vehcile and Baxter was charged with their possession, driving with an expired inspection sticker and moving from lane unsafely.
Jeffrey Zak, 20, of Orchard Park was arrested in the afternoon for an open container offense after he reportedly gave an officer false information and tried to run away on foot when he was confronted on Abbott Road. Zak was found at his home and released to his parents.
At 2:52 p.m. officers were called to a stadium parking lot on Southwestern Blvd for a report of a man who had smashed a car window and was passed out between two cars. He was charged with criminal mischief and a driver with the man, Joseph Sliwinski, 22, of West Seneca was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated with a BAC over 0.18.
Officers responding to a fight in the stadium parking lot after the game arrested Brandon Ilgi, 25, of West Henrietta and Caitlin Davis, 25, of Webster for disorderly conduct and harassment, respectively.
Shortly before 5 p.m., the Erie County Sheriffs Helicopter Air 1 reported a man crouched in the woods on California Road near Ellis Road. The 25 year old was the victim of an assault and had numerous facial lacerations. He was treated and transported by Orchard Park EMS. The investigation is ongoing.
Officers also responded to a domestic incident on Webster Road, where a victim was run over by a vehicle, with the driver then fleeing the scene. Lancaster Police apprehended Nicole Chmura, 39, of Orchard Park and she was charged with harassment, assault, reckless endangerment, aggravated unlicensed operation and leaving the scene of an injury accident. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene.
At 6:36 p.m. two Buffalo men, Jose Rayes, 38, and Torrey Cooper, 45, were arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after police reported found them smoking pot at the stadium.
Ten minutes later, a vehicle crashed into other vehicles parked at O’Neils Bar on Southwestern Boulevard. The alleged driver, Katrina Perrington, 27, of Blasdell was found walking away from the crash and was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated, unsafe backing and three counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
