Buffalo police charged a Broadway man in connection with holding a woman against her will late Friday night in his home.
Buffalo police arrested 38-year-old Robbie Said and charged him with criminal possession of a weapon, assault, endangering the welfare of a person and menacing.
Officers had been told the suspect was armed, possibly with two guns, according to a statement by Buffalo police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.
Buffalo SWAT and the Crisis Management Team were immediately called to the scene. When they got to the home in the 1900 block of Broadway just before 11 p.m., two hostages had just escaped.
The Crisis Management Team negotiated with Said before SWAT deployed tear gas into the house just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Shortly afterward, Said walked out and surrendered without incident.
Police say the two victims and the defendant are known to each other.
