Immigrant girls invited to apply for free tickets to Malala talk at UB

Girls and young women who are immigrants or from the refugee community are invited to apply for a chance to see Nobel prize winner Malala Yousafzai on Sept. 19 at the University at Buffalo as part of its Distinguished Speakers Series.

Inspired by Love is planning to take 40 to 50 girls and young women between the ages of 12 and 21 to the sold-out event. The cost of the tickets will be covered, along with chapereoned transportation and T-shirts.

Applicants are asked to write a brief statement expressing why they want to attend, how they are involved in their community and what they hope to learn from Malala. The entries should be emailed to InspiredByLoveINC@gmail.com.

The special arrangements are funded by the BAIRD Foundation and M&T Bank. The staff at Jericho Road Community Health Center also contritbuted. Mayor Byron W. Brown's office and the American Office of New Americans are providing support.
