LAWRENCE - Delbert 98, of the city of Tonawanda, departed this life on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. He was the husband of the late Louise (nee Price) Lawrence; father of Thomas R. Lawrence (Deborah) of Tonawanda, the late David D. Lawrence (Alexandra McGeary) and Marjorie Schulte Elliott; brother of the late Delcia (Ira) Ackerman and Richard (Norine) Lawrence; grandfather of Chelsey (Jerome) Neypes, Jaime (Rob) Russell, Timothy (Christina) Schulte, Kevin (Ramona) Lawrence, Michael Lawrence, KatieAnn (Jeffery) Moore, Jason (Julie) Repko, Brian (Mary Jo) LaPlante, Michelle (Charles) Bailey, Matthew LaPlante, Andrew (Codie) LaPlante; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews. Delbert was a U.S. Army veteran of the 389th Port Battalion serving his country in World War II and became a life member of American Legion Post 264. He later became a member of The Blind Veterans of America. Among his accomplishments, he founded and owned Delbert Printing from the 1930's until his retirement and was instrumental in bringing Little League Baseball to Tonawanda, coaching for many years. Member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as President of the congregation for many years. Friends and family may call Friday, September 8th from 1-3 and 6-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, 25 William Street, Tonawanda. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, September 9th at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 107 Scott Street, Tonawanda. Interment will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
