Damone M. Clayton of Lockport pleaded guilty Tuesday to attempted murder for stabbing her landlady more than 30 times in the head and neck Dec. 16.
Clayton, 32, faces up to 25 years in prison when she is sentenced Nov. 2 by State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr.
Ethel Moore, 69, said she played dead to get Clayton to stop the attack. After Clayton left the house at Prospect and Caledonia streets, Moore crawled outside, threw herself into the snow and rolled into the street, where she was seen by a passing school bus driver.
Moore said she has a hatpin-sized piece of metal from the knife embedded in her skull. "I thought she was a good person," Moore said of Clayton, a tenant of hers on Ohio Street for a decade.
