Even Tillerson admits it’s a no-win situation
Some invaders of Afghanistan, starting circa 300 B.C.: the Mauryan Empire, Alexander the Great, the Umar Caliphate, Genghis Khan, Timur, the Mughal Empire, various and sundry Persian empires, the once mightiest of them all, the British Empire, the Sikh Empire and then the hapless Soviet Union. All have been driven out with staggering losses of, to use the current buzzwords, “blood and treasure.” Common sense should cause us to ask: What are we doing there?
On Aug. 22, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson addressed the Taliban directly: “You will not win a battlefield victory. We may not win one, but neither will you.” What? This is an outright admission that we are in a no-win situation! How can we stand by and lose one more American life in view of this statement? Tomorrow, I’m calling my broker and moving into Pitchforks and Torches, Inc.
